Community Outreach Programs

 

The Sarasota Area Sports Authority is dedicated to working closely with community leaders, government agencies and local businesses to assist in building awareness of Sarasota as a community committed to furthering sports programs both locally and regionally.

SASA College Scholarship Program

 

A limited number of $500 scholarships are available from SASA to Sarasota County male or female senior amateur athletes with demonstrated athletic commitment and financial need to attend college. Applicants must be planning to attend college in Fall 2010 and will be required to submit acceptance letter from a two or four-year accredited college along with a class schedule or other proof of enrollment to receive the scholarship. All information noted under “Criteria” must be provided along with a signed application form. Upon acceptance, each student’s scholarship will be submitted directly to the student athlete for educational expenses. Interested parties can download an application here.

Community Meetings

Twice a year, in the Fall and Spring, the Sarasota Area Sports Authority (SASA) hosts sports community outreach meetings that bring together a variety of public, private, and government organizations to discuss issues and opportunities pertaining to sports programs and facilities in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.

The sports community meetings are designed to help foster greater cooperation and support among sports organizations as well as provide information on funding, facility usage and improvements and cooperative marketing opportunities available to the sports community.
